    ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

    Julie began creating jewelry over fifteen years ago. She is talented, creative and qualified to teach just about anything: all types of metal and silversmithing, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), wire works, sheet metals, wire wrapping, fused glass, lampwork glass, wire and beading techniques. She has studied at the prestigious William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, at Rio Grande, and she is a certified PMC artisan. Her work can be seen at Gallery 782 in Biloxi, MS

     

     Class Descripton: ​

    This sterling silver double band ring is elegant in its design. In this class you will expand your jewelry making skills and learn how much fun making rings can be. After making the ring you will learn how to create a bezel, solder the bezel to the ring and set a stone of your choice. This class is so informative that when it is over you will be able to use the knowledge to not only make more rings but use the techniques you learned to create earrings, pendants and bracelets. 

     

     You will Learn:    

    How to solder sterling silver, learn some fun soldering steps, different types of solder (hard, medium, easy, extra easy), select the type of solder to use (chips, wire, paste), safety issues, setting up your workspace, tools needed, using a torch, annealing metal, quenching, pickling, cutting, texturing, forming, shaping, cleaning, finishing techniques, what gauge metal works best for rings. Best place to purchase your tools, bezel wire and sterling silver.

    What to Wear:

    You will be using a torch so please wear closed toe shoes and old clothes.  Apron, latex gloves, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
