"Hollow Pendant" Saturday July 10, 2021 10:00am - 3:00pm


This class is so unique and different in that it will teach you how to make a pendant by taking two sterling silver disk, texture them and solder them together. Using this technique you will create a stunning sterling silver pendant.  Once you learn to make a hollow pendant you can apply the technique to rings, earrings, bracelets and more pendants.

    Hollow Jewelry simply means there is an empty space between two pieces of metal that soldered together. Sterling silver, copper, brass, etc. can be used to make hallow jewelry. There are many advantages to making Hollow jewelry and one is reducing the amount of metal thereby reducing the cost and making the jewelry lighter but best of all…. it is fun to make.


    You will Learn:  

    To texture sterling silver using stamps or texturing hammers, dome sterling silver disks, how to allow gases to escape when soldering (this is very important),how to use a disc cutter,  how to determine what solder to use at each step of your pendant, how to solder the disks together, filling, create and attach a bail and polish/finish the pendant.


    Skills Covered:  

    Design pendant, texture sterling silver, stamping, using texturing hammers, dome disks, how to allow gases to escape when soldering (this is very important), determine what solders to use and when, solder the disks together, using a torch, how to use flux, annealing, pickle, in and outs of using a disc cutter, clean metal, what gauge metal works best, filling, create and attach a bail and polish/finish techniques.  


    Kit to Include: 

    Every thing needed to complete this project.


    Skill Level: 

    No experience necessary.

    Tools to Bring:  

    None, You will use studio tools.


    What to Wear:

    Comfortable or Old clothes .,,. And Please wear closed toe shoes you will be using a torch ...Apron, Latex gloves, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
