ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

Julie began creating jewelry over fifteen years ago. She is talented, creative and qualified to teach just about anything: all types of metal and silversmithing, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), wire works, sheet metals, wire wrapping, fused glass, lampwork glass, wire and beading techniques. She has studied at the prestigious William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, at Rio Grande, and she is a certified PMC artisan. Her work can be seen at Gallery 782 in Biloxi, MS

 

Class description:   

If you want to learn to solder or would love some new soldering techniques, then this is the class for you. The design joins two pieces of copper using sweat soldering technique to create the offset and uses wire to embellish  cuff.  

  

You will Learn:

You will cut out two pieces of copper sheet metal, sweat solder them together to form the offset, type of solder to use, texture to create your own design, embellish with wire, add a patina for amazing luster, filing, polishing and finishing techniques, use bracelet mandrel to shape your cuff, sizing cuff to fit your wrist, what gauge sheet metal works best for a cuff.

 

Skills Covered:

Cut sheet metal, solder, sweat solder, annealing, using a torch, clean and prep metal, patina, filing, embellish with wire, form offset, polishing, finishing techniques, use bracelet mandrel, type of solder to use, embellish with wire, texture to create your own design, sizing cuff to fit your wrist, what gauge sheet metal works best for a cuff.

Comfortable clothes should be worn. Apron, latex gloves and mask will be provided if needed.
