Class description:   

Add some pizzazz and style to your jewelry making and have some fun when you learn these technique. Julie will teach you the secret of mixing sterling silver and copper wires together, twisting two sterling silver wires, then wrap the copper wire around the twisted sterling silver wire and then solder. The paring of the two wires form an impressive cuff bracelet.

  

You will Learn:

You will select the gauge and style of wire for your design, use a drill to twist the wire, solder the cuff ends, flatten the cuff using a hammer, file, polish and finishing techniques. You will also learn type of solder to use, what gauge wire works best for twisting, secret to keeping the wire straight, what gauge wire works best, use bracelet mandrel to shape your cuff, how to size cuff to fit your wrist, use half-round wire to wrap the cuff, metal smithing techniques, solder two pieces of twisted wire together.  

 

Skills Covered:

Selecting the gauge and style of wire, using a drill to twist wire, twist an additional wire into the design, soldering, use of flux, type of solder to use (hard, medium, or easy), using a torch, how to solder cuff,  flatten the cuff, use of a hammer, file, annealing, pickling, cleaning wire and  how to patina if so desired, polish and finishing techniques, gauge wire works best for twisting, secret to keeping the wire straight, use bracelet mandrel to shape your cuff and how to size cuff to fit your wrist.
