Note:
Enameling (for the purpose of this class) is the process of applying finely ground glass to metal, when the metal is heated to a high temperature the glass melts and fuses to the metal. In this class we will be using a torch to fuse the glass to metal.
Class description:
Learning the art of enameling using adorable metal seahorses, or choose fleur de lis, hearts or from a variety of other shapes and sizes. You will learn how enamel using rubber stamps, sgraffito, stencils and so much more. In this class we will use a torch to fuse the glass to the metal.
You will Learn:
The art of enameling using a hand held torch instead of using a kiln, how to counter enamel, create beautiful designs using stencils, rubber stamps, and sgraffito. You will learn the proper way to clean metal, what types of metal works best, what gauge metal to use, filing, torch setup, proper tools to use, what supplies you will need and safety tips. You will make ear-wires for your earrings, make a leather cord for your necklace, attach end connectors to leather and what size cord to use. Once you learn the process you will be able to go home and make beautiful enameled jewelry..

Enameling, counter enameling, torch firing vs kiln firing, filing, filing glass, torch setup, design, using rubber stamps, stencils, and sgraffito, proper tools to use, cleaning metal filing, filing glass, torch setup, what tools to use, supplies you will need, make ear-wires, make a leather cord for your necklace, attach end connectors to leather and what size cord works best, choosing supplies inexpensively, torch and enameling safety tips.

No experience necessary.
Tools to Bring:
None ! You will use studio tools.
What to Wear:
Closed toe shoes required (we will be using a torch), wear comfortable clothes and if you have long hair something to tie back your hair. Latex gloves, apron, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
