If you want to learn from the best of the best than Kieu’s classes are for you. I can tell you from personal experience (I took classes from her in Wisconsin), she is so much fun in class and her teaching techniques are exceptional. Kieu has been creating jewelry for more than 25 years, she had her own line of jewelry that sold in over 30 stores in 10 states. She does done it all. She has participated in numerous juried art shows, had two retail bead stores, and now she has a jewelry tools distribution company (TheUrbanBeader.com), regularly contributes to “Lapidary Journal”, authored two how to books “Hot & Cold Jewelry Connections” and “Minimal Metal Jewelry” and now teaches classes on Facebook Live weekly. Kieu is well known for the uniqueness of her designs and her passion, knowledge, and dedication for teaching metalsmithing.
Using sterling silver to form a cone shape design, you will forge sheet metal into a Calla Lilly, solder stems, attach pearls and make ear-wires. By the end of the class, you will have the skills to customize your own cones for future projects. For those of you who do not wear earrings, you can convert the flowers into pendants. Just for good measure, copper metal will also be provided for practice before using your sterling silver.
You will Learn:
Safety tips, using a torch, how to solder forged sterling silver, make stems, and attach pearls to your creation. Which type of solder to use, prep metal for forging, filing, sanding, cleaning, texturing, quenching, and annealing. How to use a third hand, a tripod, and the right tools to use. How to hammer out a texture, which gauge metal works best. Finishing techniques including, how to patina and polish.
Safety tips, using a torch, soldering, cutting metal, filing, sanding, cleaning, quenching, annealing, texturing, solder stims, balls, and ear-wires, what tools to use, use of a third hand and a tripod, hammer texturing, how to use a flex shaft, patina, polishing and finishing techniques.

Everything you will need to complete this project.
Tools to Bring:
None ! Students will use studio tools.
What to Wear:
Closed-toe shoes is a must (we will be using torches for this project), wear old clothes. Latex gloves, apron, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
What to Bring to Class:
A small notebook and reading glasses if extra magnification is needed.
