 Using sterling silver as your earring base, you will select a shape of your choice for your earrings, cut out or saw your earrings. Then using a combination of brass and copper cut out your decorations, you will learn  sweat soldering, a unique, awesome pair of earrings.

    ABOUT YOUR TEACHER:

    Julie began creating jewelry over fifteen years ago. She is talented, creative and qualified to teach just about anything: all types of metal and silversmithing, Precious Metal Clay (PMC), wire works, sheet metals, wire wrapping, fused glass, lampwork glass, wire and beading techniques. She has studied at the prestigious William Holland School of Lapidary Arts, at Rio Grande, and she is a certified PMC artisan. Her work can be seen at Gallery 782 in Biloxi, MS

     

    Class description:

    Combining Sterling Silver as your base and embellishing with cut out pieces of copper and brass, sweat soldering a beautiful pair of earrings.

     

    You will Learn:  

    Some new techniques, sweat soldering brass, copper onto a sterling base,  choose a sterling shape and texture for your earrings,    cut your creation, using copper and brass to cut different shapes for decoration, sweat solder to your sterling base,   make your ear-wires out of sterling silver wire and add a touch of design.  

      

    Skills Covered:    

    New techniques, sweat soldering, create a sterling base,  using a jewelers saw or scissors to cut your base, choosing shapes, hammer texture, how to cut different shapes of metal for decorations, determine types of solder to use in each step, setting metal pieces, when and how to anneal metal, cut metal, prep metal, shaping metal, filing, cleaning, what tools to use, what gauge of metal best for base and decorations, polishing and finishing

    Every thing needed to complete this project

    no experience necessary

     

    Tools to Bring:

    None ! Students will use studio tools.

     

    What to Wear:

    Comfortable clothes.  Latex gloves, apron, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.

    No refunds are provided if you cannot attend your scheduled class.  You may send someone in your place if you let us know to expect them.  We reserve the right to cancel a class at anytime.  If that happens, for any reason, you will receive a full refund.  In case of inclement weather, we will reschedule the class or give a full refund.
