This class is about learning the different between two metals but obtaining the same results. In this class you will learn the vast difference in fine silver clay and fine silver sheet but you will use both to create identical projects, pair of earrings or a pendant using both materials. From this class you will be able to determine which medium you perfer to work in and you will learn something new and different.

Come spend the day with Katherine and experience the difference in materials and decide for yourself which method works best in your jewelry design. There is a vast difference in fine silver clay and fine silver sheet, but both are used to create beautiful jewelry. Knowing the difference takes understanding. You will create identical projects, a pair of earrings or a pendant using both materials. As you gain knowledge of both mediums you will begin to understand how each method results in a beautiful finished piece of jewelry. You will be able to determine for yourself, how each method can bring your handcrafted jewelry to the next level.
You will Learn:
The difference between working with fine silver clay and fine silver sheet metal. cutting metal, filing, sanding, cleaning, texturing, what tools to use in when using fine silver sheet metal, what tools to use when working with fine silver clay, polishing, buffing and finishing techniques.
Design, creativity, making jewelry out of sheet metal, making jewelry out of fine silver clay, texturing, forging, working with fine silver clay and fine silver sheet metal. cutting metal, filing, sanding, cleaning, texturing, what toolsto use for fine silver sheet metal, what tools to use for fine silver clay, polishing, buffing and finishing techniques.

Tools to Bring:
None. Studio will provide tools to be used for class, but students should bring a small notebook, reading glasses if needed for extra magnification.
What to Wear:
Wear old clothes, Latex gloves, apron, safety glasses and mask will be provided if needed.
